Dantewada, also known as South Bastar, is a district located in the southern part of the state of Chhattisgarh, India. It is situated in the Bastar region and is known for its rich cultural heritage and natural beauty.

Dantewada has a significant historical and mythological importance. It is believed to be the birthplace of the Hindu deity Lord Rama's mother, Mata Kaushalya. The region has also been associated with the ancient epic Ramayana.
