It was commissioned by Ahmed Shah I, the founder of Ahmedabad, and completed by his son Muhammad Shah II in 1451. The tomb is situated near the Jama Masjid and Manek Chowk.
The mausoleum features a square-shaped central building with a large central dome, surrounded by four smaller domed chambers at the corners. The tombs of Ahmed Shah I, his son Muhammad Shah II, and his grandson Ahmad Shah II are located in the central chamber.
