Ancestral Goa - Big Foot is a unique open-air museum located in Loutolim, South Goa, about 25 kilometers from Panaji and 10 kilometers from Margao.
Created by artist Maendra Jocelino Araujo Alvares, this museum beautifully showcases Goa's traditional past and rural lifestyle over the past 100 years. The site features a mock-up village with miniature houses and shops, an art gallery displaying works by local and national artists, a handicraft center offering Goan artifacts, and a Big Foot dance floor, which is the only designer dance floor in Goa.
Visitors can also explore the Big Foot Cross, a museum, a spice yard, rubber plantations, and a bird habitat. One of the main attractions is the 14-meter-long sculpture of Sant Mirabai, which is the longest laterite sculpture in India and has made it to the Limca Book of Records. The museum is open daily from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and a minimal entry fee is charged.
