The Bhujio Fort Gate is part of the historic Bhujia Fort, located atop Bhujia Hill on the outskirts of Bhuj in Kutch, Gujarat. This fort, also known as Bhujiya Fort, was constructed between 1715 and 1741 AD by the Jadeja rulers of Kutch, primarily for the defense of Bhuj. The fort has witnessed several significant battles, including invasions by the Mughals and Sindh raiders.
The gate serves as the main entrance to the fort and is a testament to the architectural and strategic ingenuity of the time. Visitors must pass through two major gates to explore the fort, which features scattered buildings, a parapet wall, and the Bhujanga Nag Temple, dedicated to the snake god Bhujanga. The temple holds cultural significance, especially during the Nag Panchami festival.
