Chicham Bridge
Chicham Bridge, located in the Spiti Valley of Himachal Pradesh, is known as the highest bridge in Asia. Situated at an altitude of 13,596 feet (4,137 meters), it connects the villages of Chicham and Kibber. The bridge spans a deep gorge about 1,000 feet deep known as the Samba Lamba Nallah.
Constructed by the Himachal Pradesh Public Works Department (HP PWD) and the Border Roads Organization (BRO), the bridge was completed in 2017 after almost 14 years of construction. It has significantly improved connectivity for the local communities, replacing a dangerous ropeway that was previously used to cross the gorge.
Chicham Bridge is not only an engineering marvel but also a popular attraction for travelers visiting the Spiti Valley. The bridge offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains and valleys, making it a must-visit spot for photographers and adventure enthusiasts.
