Jahaz Haweli Diwan Todarmal Ji
The Jahaz Haweli Diwan Todarmal Ji, also known as Jahaz Haveli, is a historic residence located in Fatehgarh Sahib, Punjab. Built in the 17th century, it was the home of Diwan Todar Mal, who served as the finance minister in the court of Nawab Wazir Khan, the Mughal governor of Sirhind.
Diwan Todar Mal is remembered for his act of compassion when he purchased a piece of land at a very high price to cremate the young sons of Guru Gobind Singh Ji and their grandmother, Mata Gujri, after they were martyred by the Mughal authorities. The haveli, with its beautiful architecture and historical significance, stands as a testament to his bravery and devotion.
Today, it is maintained by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) and serves as a place of reverence for Sikhs.
