Tourist Attraction
Kadam Sharif
Kadam Sharif, also known as Qadam Sharif, is a historic tomb complex located in Paharganj, Central Delhi. Built in 1375-1376 CE by Firuz Shah Tughlaq, the complex includes a mosque, a madrasa, and a shrine surrounded by a massive gated wall. Originally intended as Firuz Shah's tomb, it was repurposed for his son Fateh Khan after his death in 1376.
The complex is named after a stone with a footprint of the Prophet Muhammad, brought from Mecca by Hazrat Syed Jalaluddin Husain Bukhari, Firuz Shah's spiritual guide.
The area around Kadam Sharif has been absorbed by housing and commercial buildings over the centuries, but the tomb, walls, and gates remain visible. The madrasa and mosque are still actively used, and the footprint is an important pilgrimage site.
