Khodiyar Mataji Temple
The Khodiyar Mataji Temple is a revered shrine located in Rajpara, near Bhavnagar, Gujarat. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Khodiyar, a form of Adi Shakti Devi. It is one of the five most important temples dedicated to Khodiyar Maa in Gujarat.
The temple is situated on the banks of the Tataniya Wali Lake, adding to its serene and spiritual ambiance. The temple has a rich history linked to Maharaja Wakhatsinhji Gohil, the ruler of Bhavnagar state during the 17th and 18th centuries.
According to legend, Maharaja Wakhatsinhji urged Goddess Khodiyar to come down from the Galdhara temple to Shihor (the capital of Bhavnagar), and she agreed on the condition that he would not turn around during the journey. When the Maharaja broke this promise, the goddess decided to end her journey at Rajpara.
