Kirti Toran, located in Vadnagar, Mehsana district, Gujarat, is a remarkable example of Maru-Gurjara architecture from the 12th century. These ornamental gateways, also known as torans, are made of red and yellow sandstone and stand about 40 feet tall. They are among the few surviving examples of entrance gates from the Solanki period.
The torans are situated on the bank of Sharmistha Lake and are adorned with intricate carvings of battle scenes, hunting scenes, floral motifs, and divine figures. The one to the east is in better condition and has been used as a symbol of Gujarat in recent times.
