Maa Aashapura Temple
The Maa Aashapura Temple, also known as Ashapura Mata Temple, is a sacred shrine located in the village of Matanamadh, Lakhapat, Kutch, Gujarat. This temple is dedicated to Ashapura Devi, the chief deity of the Jadeja Rajputs. Built in the 14th century, the temple was commissioned under the rule of the Jadeja dynasty and constructed by two Karad Vanias, Ajo and Anagor.
Ashapura Devi is an incarnation of Annapoorna Devi and is revered by many communities in Gujarat as their Kuldevi (family deity). The temple has a rich history and has been mentioned in ancient texts like the Puranas and Rudrayamal Tantra. Despite suffering damages from earthquakes in 1819 and 2001, the temple has been restored and continues to attract devotees from all over.
The temple features a six-feet high red-painted stone statue of Ashapura Mata, and it is particularly crowded during the Navratri festival in the months of Chaitra and Ashvin. Devotees believe that Ashapura Devi fulfills the desires and wishes of those who pray to her in need.
