Maniyar Math
The Maniyar Math, also known as Maniar Matth, is an ancient archaeological site located in Rajgir, Nalanda district, Bihar. It is believed to have been originally a worshipping area of the local pantheon of the Naga cult. The site was excavated by Sir Alexander Cunningham, the father of the Archaeological Survey of India, in 1861.
The site features a unique structure with a cylindrical well-like structure at the center and a walled platform built around it. Excavations have revealed stucco images, large pots with snake-hooded spouts, and inscriptions, including the name "Mani Naga" (the Bejewelled Snake). The site has been significant for various religious sects, including the Nagas, Hindus, Buddhists, and Jains.
