Mother of God Church
The Mother of God Church, also known as Mae de Deus Church, is located in the quaint village of Majorda in South Goa. This historic church was founded in 1588 and has a rich heritage. Despite facing adversity, including a devastating fire set by the Marathas in 1738, the church was reconstructed in 1739.
The church is dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary, and two significant feasts are celebrated here: the Mother of God feast on the first Sunday of May and the Boa Morte (Good Death) feast on the first Sunday of October. The church is open daily from 6:30 AM to 5:00 PM, and Mass is celebrated throughout the week.
