Mouling National Park
Mouling National Park, located primarily in the Upper Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh on the right bank of the Siang River, covers an area of about 483 square kilometers. Established in 1982, it is the second national park in the state and forms part of the Dihang-Dibang Biosphere Reserve.
The park features diverse vegetation zones that change with altitude, ranging from tropical evergreen forests in the lower ranges to temperate alpine and coniferous forests at higher elevations. It is a rich habitat for rare and endangered wildlife including takin, red panda, Indian leopard, Bengal tiger, clouded leopard, golden langur, serow, and several hornbill species. The rugged terrain includes many attractive waterfalls like Dabung and Nirbung, making the park a favored destination for trekkers and wildlife enthusiasts.
Due to its remote and largely inaccessible location, the area remains relatively undisturbed by human activity, preserving its ecological richness and variety of flora such as foxtail and orchids. The best time to visit is from October to early January, and access is typically via trekking routes from nearby villages, with the nearest airport at Pasighat.
