The Nagarjunasagar-Srisailam Tiger Reserve (NSTR) is the largest tiger reserve in India, covering an area of 3,728 square kilometers. Located in the Nallamala hills, an offshoot of the Eastern Ghats, the reserve spans across the districts of Kurnool, Prakasam, Guntur, Nalgonda, and Mahabub Nagar.
It was declared a tiger reserve in 1983. The reserve is home to a diverse range of flora and fauna, including over 80 species of mammals, 303 species of birds, 54 species of reptiles, and 20 species of amphibians.
The NSTR is divided into several wildlife sanctuaries, including the Rajiv Gandhi Wildlife Sanctuary and the Gundla Brahmeswaram Wildlife Sanctuary. Visitors to the reserve can enjoy activities such as wildlife safaris, jungle camps, bird watching, and hiking.
