The Nageshvara Jyotirlinga is one of the twelve sacred Jyotirlingas dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is located in Darukavana, an ancient forest near Dwarka, Gujarat.
According to legend, a demon named Daaruka imprisoned a devotee of Shiva named Supriya. Supriya's continuous chanting of "Om Namaha Shivay" invoked Lord Shiva, who appeared and defeated the demon. A self-manifested Shivalinga appeared at this spot, which is now worshipped as the Nageshvara Jyotirlinga.
The temple is situated about 18 kilometers from Dwarka city and is accessible by road. The best time to visit is between November and February, and during Maha Shivaratri, which is celebrated with great fervor.
