PARIMAL GARDEN

Parimal Garden, officially known as Pari Trikamlal Bhogilal Municipal Recreation Park, is a serene urban park located in the Ambawadi area of Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Covering an area of 8.5 acres, the garden was established in 1960 and has since become a beloved green oasis for the city's residents.

The park was initially developed under the guidance of the first mayor of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, Chinubhai Chimanlal, who secured funding and collaboration from various industrialists and public figures. The area chosen for the park was low-lying and frequently waterlogged, which naturally formed a pond, adding to the garden's charm.

In 1998, parimal garden underwent significant redevelopment, led by architect Kamal Mangaldas, with structures designed by Devendra Shah and landscaping by Prem Bhojnagarwala. This redevelopment introduced new features such as a walkway, an amphitheatre, a gym, and various sports facilities, enhancing the park's appeal. The garden's maintenance was taken over by the Torrent Group in 1995, ensuring its upkeep and continuous improvement.

The most recent restoration of Parimal Garden began in 2021, spearheaded by the UN Mehta Foundation in association with the Torrent Group and supported by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation. This project, part of the UNM Foundation's Pratiti initiative, was executed by architect Aniket Bhagwat at a cost of ₹12 crore. The garden was reopened to the public on August 9, 2022, and was inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Gujarat, Bhupendrabhai Patel.
