Sahastra Ling Lake
The Sahastra Ling Talav, also known as the Sahasralinga Tank, is a medieval artificial water tank located in Patan, Gujarat. It was commissioned during the Chaulukya (Solanki) rule and is a Monument of National Importance protected by the Archaeological Survey of India.
The tank was originally known as Durlabh Sarovar and was constructed by King Durlabh Raja, later repaired and renovated by King Siddharaj during 1093-1143 A.D.
The tank is famous for its thousands of small shrines dedicated to Lord Shiva, which were constructed around its inlet and Rudra Kupa (reservoir). These shrines are approached through a bridge, and the water flows around them, creating a unique and serene environment. The tank is now dry, but its historical significance and architectural beauty make it a popular heritage site.
