Built in 1790 by Sebastiao da Silva, an emissary and private secretary of the Portuguese Viceroy, the mansion is a remarkable example of Portuguese architecture. Originally designed with seven gables, only three remain today.
The house features Baroque elements at its entrance and a grand staircase leading to a private chapel, which showcases exquisite Baroque and Rococo art. The mansion is also known as the House of Eurico Santana da Silva and is considered an important landmark in Goa. Since it is private property, visitors need prior permission to enter.
The mansion’s oyster shell windows and balconies supported by corbels add to its architectural charm, making it a significant heritage site in the region.
