The park was developed by the Corporation of Chennai and was inaugurated on May 29, 2009 by the then Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, M. Karunanidhi. It spans 18.5 acres and offers a peaceful retreat amidst the bustling city.
The park features a grand circular fountain at its center, tree courts with granite benches, a sunken court for children, public rest houses, and granite plazas for yoga. It also has ramps for accessibility and murals created by arts students. The park is open all year round and has no entry fee.
