Shri Vedanarayana Swamy Temple
The Shri Vedanarayana Swamy Temple, located in Nagalapuram, Chittoor district, Andhra Pradesh, is a unique and revered shrine dedicated to Lord Vishnu in his Matsya Avatar (fish incarnation). This temple is one of the few in India where Lord Vishnu is depicted in this form, which is the first of his Dashavatara (ten main incarnations).
The temple is renowned for its Dravidian architecture and its astronomical marvel, the Surya Pooja Utsavam. During this festival, which occurs annually, the rays of the setting sun travel a distance of 360 feet through the temple's gopuram (tower) and fall directly on the deity in the sanctum sanctorum for three consecutive days.
On the first day, the rays touch the deity's feet, on the second day the navel, and on the third day the crown.
