The Barki Memorial in Firozpur, Punjab, was constructed in 1969 to honor the soldiers of the 7 Infantry Division who made the supreme sacrifice during the 1965 war with Pakistan. The memorial is part of the Saragarhi Complex and features a central pillar, a Patton tank, a Barki milestone, and a water fountain.
The 27-foot-high pillar is made of red and white sandstone and gneiss, with classical Indian architectural moldings and relief carvings. The fountain symbolizes the everlasting memory of the fallen soldiers, with its abundant spray of water representing their eternal presence.
