Chitmang Peak appears like the back of a bull and is situated in the South Garo Hills District of Meghalaya with a height of 1,029 meters above sea level, the Simsang River runs through the foothills of this peak. It is locally known as Waimong; Wai meaning 'God' and Mong meaning 'very big' gives the peak the name Great God. Another name for the peak is Kailas/Kaylas.
The Garos strongly believe that, the spirits of the deceased passes through this peak!
