The Manipal Museum of Anatomy and Pathology, located in Manipal near Udupi, Karnataka, is one of the largest museums of its kind in Asia. Opened to the public in 1954, the museum was the brainchild of Dr. SS Godbole, the first Anatomy Professor at Kasturba Medical College (KMC) in Manipal. The museum houses over 3,000 specimens and samples related to anatomy and pathology.
The museum is divided into two main sections: Anatomy and Pathology. The Anatomy section displays well-preserved specimens of the human body from head to toe, including the skulls of an elephant and a whale, and the skeleton of a king cobra.
The Pathology section showcases diseased body parts and organs, with a special focus on lifestyle-induced diseases.
The museum is open from 8 AM to 6 PM on all days except public holidays
