Shamali, also known as Prabuddh Nagar, is a district in the state of Uttar Pradesh (UP), India. Located in the northern part of the state, Shamali is known for its historical and cultural significance. The district of Shamali was formed on 28 September 2011, following the division of the district of Muzaffarnagar. It is situated approximately 100 kilometers north of the national capital, Delhi. The district shares its borders with other districts of Uttar Pradesh, including Muzaffarnagar, Baghpat, and Meerut.
