84 Pillered Cenotaph
The 84 Pillared Cenotaph, also known as Chaurasi Khambon ki Chhatri, is a remarkable historical monument located in Bundi, Rajasthan. Constructed in 1683 by Maharaja Rao Raja Anirudh Singh, this cenotaph was built in memory of his foster brother, Deva. The structure is an exquisite example of Rajput architecture, featuring 84 intricately carved pillars that support a double-storied structure adorned with artistic figures of gods and animals.
The cenotaph is situated in the Devpura area of Bundi, on the Bundi-Kota road. The lower level of the cenotaph houses a large Shiva Lingam, while the upper level features a terrace with four chhatris (umbrella domes) supported by 16 pillars. The detailed engravings and symmetrical design of the cenotaph make it a sight to behold.
