Adilabad Fort
Adilabad Fort, also known as Muhammadabad, is located about 1 km east of the entrance to the larger Tughlaqabad Fort in South Delhi. It was built in the 14th century by Muhammad bin Tughlaq, the son of Ghiyasuddin Tughlaq, and can be seen as a smaller version of the Tughlaqabad Fort with similar massive walls and bastions.
Unlike Tughlaqabad, the interior of Adilabad Fort has been landscaped into well-maintained gardens with manicured lawns, and there are minimal remains of buildings inside, with evidence of only a small palace structure. The fort was part of Jahanpanah, the fourth medieval city of Delhi constructed to offer refuge and protection.
Today, Adilabad Fort is a protected monument under the Archaeological Survey of India and offers visitors a peaceful historic site with panoramic views and a glimpse into Delhi's medieval fort architecture and strategic military past.
