Advaita Ashrama, also known as Mayavati Ashrama, is a branch of the Ramakrishna Math located in Champawat, Uttarakhand. Founded on March 19, 1899, by the disciples of Swami Vivekananda, James Henry Sevier and Charlotte Elizabeth Sevier, the ashram is dedicated to the study and practice of Advaita Vedanta.
Situated at an altitude of 1,940 meters, it is nestled amidst the scenic beauty of the Himalayas, about 22 kilometers from Champawat and 9 kilometers from Lohaghat. The ashram is known for its serene environment and spiritual ambiance, making it a popular destination for devotees and seekers of peace.
Unlike other temples, Advaita Ashrama does not have any images or idols for worship, adhering to the ideals set by Vivekananda. The ashram also houses a charitable hospital, a library with a vast collection of books, and a museum showcasing artifacts related to Vivekananda and the Ramakrishna Order.
