Ahwa

Ahwa is the administrative headquarters of Dang district in Gujarat, India, situated about 1,800 feet (549 meters) above sea level. The region is predominantly hilly and densely forested, inhabited mainly by tribal communities.

Dang district, with Ahwa at its center, is known for its natural beauty, featuring lush green forests, rivers like Ambika, Purna, Khapri, and Gira, and several waterfalls that thrive especially during the monsoon. The area has cultural significance as the home of the five hereditary tribal kings whose titles are still recognized due to a historic treaty with the British in 1842.

This treaty also established an annual royal ceremony held in Ahwa during Holi. The district remains largely rural and economically underdeveloped, with agriculture as the main occupation and a reliance on forest resources. Despite its challenges, Ahwa and the Dang district are valued for their ecological richness and tribal heritage. The town is connected by national highways and lies near other towns and hills such as Saputara, a nearby hill station, adding to its scenic appeal.
