The Arulmigu Yoga Narasinga Perumal Thiru Kovil is a revered temple located in Narasingam, Yanaimalai (Elephant Hill), Madurai, Tamil Nadu. This temple is dedicated to Lord Yoga Narasimhar, a form of Lord Vishnu, and Goddess Narasingavalli Thayar. The temple is renowned for its unique rock-cut architecture, which showcases the rich heritage of South Indian temple architecture.
According to legend, the temple was constructed in 770 A.D. by Madurakavi, the minister of the Madurai King Parantaka Neduncheziyan. The temple is also known as Kodavarai Kovil because it was carved out of a huge piece of rock from the hill.
The main deity, Lord Yoga Narasimhar, is depicted in a unique standing posture with Sudarsana and Panchajanya in his upper hands, while the left lower hand holds the Gatha Ayutham (weapon) and the right hand is in the blessing pose.
