Bala Quila, also known as Alwar Fort, is a historic fortress located in Alwar, Rajasthan. Perched atop the Aravalli Range, the fort offers breathtaking views of the city below. Originally constructed by the Nikumbh Rajputs, it was later rebuilt in 1521 CE by Hasan Khan Mewati.
Over the centuries, it changed hands between the Mughals, Rajputs, and Marathas, playing a significant role in regional history. The fort spans 5 kilometers in length and 1.5 kilometers in width, featuring 15 large and 51 small towers.
It has six entrance gates, including Chand Pol, Suraj Pol, Krishna Pol, Laxman Pol, Andheri Gate, and Jai Pol, each named after rulers who contributed to its legacy. Within the fort, visitors can explore Suraj Kund, Salim Nagar Pond, Jal Mahal, and Nikumbha Mahal Palace, showcasing intricate carvings and architectural brilliance.
