Bhairavgad is a historic hill fort located in the Satara district of Maharashtra, situated on a peak in the Sahyadri mountain range at an altitude of about 1000 meters. The fort, named after the Bhairav (Shiva) temple located at the site, was built by the Rajas of Panhala and served as a strategic military post during Maratha rule before being captured by the British in 1818.
It is surrounded by dense forests as part of the Koyana region, within the Kalsubai-Harishchandragad Wildlife Sanctuary, and features ruins along with well-preserved temples dedicated to Goddess Bheri, Goddess Tula, Shri Vaghjai, and Lord Shiva.
