Bhatner Fort
Bhatner Fort, also known as Hanumangarh Fort, is one of the oldest forts in India, located in Hanumangarh, Rajasthan. Built around 295 AD by King Bhupat of the Bhati Dynasty, the fort was constructed to honor his father, Rao Bhatti. The fort is built entirely of bricks and covers an area of 52 bighas.
The fort has a unique parallelogram shape with 12 bastions on each side. It has a rich history of being captured by various rulers, including Mahmud of Ghazni in 1001 AD, Timur in 1398 AD, and Sher Shah Suri in the 14th century. The fort was renamed Hanumangarh after Raja Surat Singh of Bikaner captured it on a Tuesday, a day associated with Lord Hanuman.
