Birbal ka Chhatta
Birbal Ka Chhatta, also known as Chhatta Rai Bal Mukand Dass, is a historic monument located in the Mahendragarh district of Haryana. Built by Divya Rai Mukund Das during the reign of Shah Jahan in the 17th century, this five-storey structure is the largest of Narnaul's Mughal historical monuments.
The building features large stone pillars, a grand Darbar Hall, and expansive verandas, showcasing exquisite architectural art.
According to local legends, the monument is connected to underground tunnels leading to Delhi, Jaipur, Mahendragarh, and Loosi. It is said that Birbal, one of Akbar's nine gems, visited this place, which is why it is popularly known as Birbal Ka Chhatta. The monument also has a well in the southeastern corner, from which water was raised to reservoirs at various levels.
