Built in 1872 under the guidance of Sri Gaurishankar Oza, the then Deewan of Bhavnagar, the lake was originally intended to serve as a reservoir to meet the water requirements of the city.
Spread over an area of 381 hectares, it has become a popular picnic spot and a serene environment for locals and visitors alike.
