Chaiturgarh Fort, also known as Lafagarh, is a historic fort located about 70 kilometers from Korba in Chhattisgarh. Perched on a hilltop at around 3,060 feet above sea level in the Satpura Range, it is one of the 36 forts of Chhattisgarh and is protected by natural cliffs, making it one of the strongest natural forts in India.
The fort's construction dates back to the 10th century under the Kalachuri dynasty and features only minimal man-made walls due to its natural defensive geography. The large fort complex spreads over 5 square kilometers and includes several gates, ancient temples, natural ponds, caves, and water reservoirs. One of the most prominent temples is the Mahishasur Mardini temple dedicated to Goddess Durga, attracting pilgrims and history enthusiasts alike.
