Chet Singh Ghat
Chet Singh Ghat is a historically significant ghat located on the banks of the River Ganga in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. It is also known as Khirki Ghat and is named after Maharaja Chet Singh, who played a crucial role in resisting British colonial forces in the late 18th century. The ghat witnessed a fierce battle between Chet Singh's troops and the British forces led by Warren Hastings in 1781.
The ghat is divided into four parts: Chet Singh Ghat, Niranjani Ghat, Nirvani Ghat, and Shivala Ghat. It is known for its beautiful view, especially during the evening Aarti, and houses three Lord Shiva temples dating back to the 18th century.
The ghat is also associated with the Budhwa Mangal festival, which is celebrated for seven days.
