The Dandi Bridge, also known as Dandi Pul, is a historic bridge located in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. It holds significant historical importance as it was the first bridge crossed by Mahatma Gandhi and his followers when they embarked on the Dandi March on March 12, 1930.
The bridge, which spans 70 feet, lies over the Sabarmati River and originally connected Gandhi's Sabarmati Ashram with the city of Ahmedabad.
After the successful launch of the Salt March, the bridge was renamed Dandi Pul in honor of the event. The Dandi March was a pivotal moment in India's struggle for independence, marking the beginning of the civil disobedience movement against British rule. Today, the bridge serves as a reminder of Gandhi's legacy and the nonviolent resistance movement he led.
