Dariapur Light House
The Dariapur Lighthouse is located in the Purba Medinipur district of West Bengal. It is a 30-meter (98 feet) tall lighthouse with a visibility range of 19 nautical miles. The current RCC lighthouse tower was constructed in 1964, replacing an older 20-meter tall mild steel structure erected in 1943.
The lighthouse is situated near the village of Dariapur, close to the spot where the famous Bengali writer Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay found inspiration to write his novel Kapalkundala in 1866.
