Datia Palace
Datia Palace, also known as Bir Singh Palace or Satkhanda Palace, is a magnificent historical monument located in Datia, Madhya Pradesh. Built by Maharaja Bir Singh Deo between 1605 and 1627, the palace is a stunning example of Indo-Islamic architecture, blending Rajput and Mughal styles.
The seven-story palace is constructed entirely of stone and brick, without the use of wood or iron, showcasing the incredible craftsmanship of the artisans of that time.
The palace was originally built to welcome Mughal Emperor Jahangir, but neither the emperor nor the king ever lived in it. The palace features intricate carvings, beautiful frescoes, and ornate balconies. It also has around 400 rooms and several courtyards. The surrounding area offers panoramic views of the Karna Sagar Lake and the fort ramparts.
