Dilkusha Kothi, also known as the Heart's Delight Palace, is a historic mansion located in the Cantonment area of Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. Built in the English Baroque style around 1800 by Major Gore Ouseley, a British resident and friend of Nawab Saadat Ali Khan, it was initially intended as a hunting lodge for the Nawabs of Oudh. Over time, it also served as a summer resort.
The mansion is known for its unique architectural features, such as patterned walls and the absence of an inner courtyard, which was uncommon in traditional Indian architecture. The design bears a striking resemblance to Seaton Delaval Hall in Northumberland, England. During the Siege of Lucknow in 1857, the building was heavily damaged, and today, only a few towers and external walls remain as a testament to its former grandeur.
