Do Drul Chorten Monastery, located in Gangtok, East Sikkim, is one of the most significant Buddhist stupas in the region. Built in 1945-1946 by Trulshik Rinpoche, the head of the Nyingma sect of Tibetan Buddhism, the stupa is surrounded by 108 Mani Lhakor (prayer wheels), each inscribed with the sacred mantra "Om Mani Padme Hum".
Inside the stupa, religious artifacts such as Dorjee Phurba (Vajra Kilaya) and Kangyur (holy Buddhist texts) are preserved. The monastery is adjacent to the Namgyal Institute of Tibetology, making it easily accessible for visitors exploring Gangtok.
According to legend, the site was once haunted by evil spirits, and Trulshik Rinpoche built the stupa to drive them away. The monastery complex also houses Chorten Lakhang and Guru Lakhang, where two large statues of Guru Padmasambhava are present.
