Fambong Lho Wildlife Sanctuary in East Sikkim, near Gangtok, covers about 51 square kilometers and is part of the Eastern Himalayas with elevations ranging from 1,524 to 2,749 meters. Established in 1984, it borders Khangchendzonga National Park and features diverse habitats including subtropical pine, broadleaf, conifer forests, and alpine meadows.
The sanctuary is rich in biodiversity, sheltering endangered species like the red panda, Himalayan brown bear, barking deer, and yellow-throated marten, along with many bird species such as the rufous-headed hornbill and laughingthrush.
