Gandhi Mandapam is a memorial located in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation. Situated in the serene surroundings of the Guindy area, near Raj Bhavan, it was inaugurated on January 27, 1956, by the then Chief Minister of Madras, C. Rajagopalachari.
The memorial is designed in traditional Tamil architecture and is known for its simplicity and tranquil atmosphere, reflecting Gandhi's ascetic lifestyle. One unique feature is that on October 2nd, Gandhi's birthday, the sun's rays fall directly on the spot where his ashes were kept.
