The museum showcases the history and genealogy of the Maharajas of Travancore through an extensive collection of paintings, photographs, and artifacts.
Named after Uthradam Thirunal Marthanda Varma, the last Elaya Raja of Travancore, the museum is housed in a two-storied building that was once a part of the royal residence.
The exhibits include photographs documenting the lives of the rulers from childhood to their coronation and rule. Special emphasis is given to the last ruling monarch, Sree Chithira Thirunal Balarama Varma. The museum also has a section dedicated to anamorphic paintings from 2017, adding a contemporary touch to its historical exhibits.
