Harmirsar Lake
Hamirsar Lake is a beautiful man-made lake located in the heart of Bhuj, the headquarters of Kutch district in Gujarat. The lake was built during the reign of Rao Khengarji I in the 16th century and is named after Rao Hamir, the founder of Bhuj. The lake covers an area of 28 acres (11 hectares) and serves as an oasis in the arid region of Kutch.
The lake is surrounded by lush greenery and features a beautiful mid-lake garden, similar to Kankaria Lake in Ahmedabad. Visitors can enjoy activities like boating, walking along the lake's edge, and exploring nearby attractions such as the Aina Mahal, Prag Mahal, Kutch Museum, Alfred High School, and various temples.
Hamirsar Lake is also known for its cultural significance, with traditional rituals and celebrations, such as the distribution of Megh Ladoos when the lake overflows after heavy rains.
