Indian Institute of Information Technology, Agartala (IIIT-Agartala)

Indian Institute of Information Technology, Agartala (IIIT‑Agartala), located in West Tripura district, Tripura, is a public‑private‑partnership engineering institute established in 2018 under the Ministry of Education, Government of India, and recognised as an “Institute of National Importance” under the IIIT (PPP) Act.

It was set up with the support of the Government of Tripura and industry partners on the PPP model, and initially functions from the campus of the National Institute of Technology, Agartala, while its own permanent campus is being developed.

The institute focuses on information technology and computer‑centred engineering, offering undergraduate B.Tech programmes mainly in Computer Science and related streams, with later plans for postgraduate and doctoral courses, and admissions are made through national exams such as JEE Main and JoSAA counselling.

IIIT‑Agartala aims to provide high‑quality technical education and research‑oriented training in IT and emerging computing fields, helping students build careers in software, data science, and core technology sectors across India.
