Islamnagar Fort, located near Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh, was originally known as Jagdishpur and served as the capital of the Bhopal princely state for a brief period. The fort was established by Dost Mohammad Khan, the founder of Bhopal, in the early 18th century after capturing the area from local Rajput chieftains.
The site features notable structures such as Chaman Mahal, a red sandstone palace surrounded by gardens and fountains, and Rani Mahal, a double-storey zenana complex. The fort was briefly surrendered to Nizam-ul-Mulk in 1723 before Dost Mohammad Khan shifted his capital to Bhopal in 1727.
The Scindias controlled the fort from 1806 to 1817, after which it was restored to Bhopal. In February 2023, the village was officially renamed Jagdishpur.
