The Jantar Mantar in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, is an astronomical observatory built in 1737 by Maharaja Jai Singh II of Jaipur. It is one of the five such observatories constructed by him across India, with others located in Jaipur, Mathura, New Delhi, and Ujjain. The observatory is situated atop the Man Mahal Palace, near the famous Dashashwamedh Ghat.
