Kala Gaon, also known as the Arts Village, is a unique cultural destination in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. Located along the Indira Canal, this Awadhi village offers visitors a glimpse into traditional rural life, untouched by modern influences.
Spanning 4 acres, Kala Gaon was established in 2010 by sculptor Dharmendra Kumar and his wife, painter Neeta, with the help of students from Lucknow Arts College. The village features mud huts, granaries, curd-making pots, and over 40 sculptures made of clay and stone, creating an immersive rural experience.
Visitors can enjoy string puppet shows, cultural dance performances, storytelling sessions, and shop for handcrafted items at the Crafts Bazaar. The art gallery within the village showcases traditional artwork, further enriching the experience.
