Khooni Darwaza, also known as the Bloody Gate, is a historical monument situated on Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg in Shahdara, Delhi. Constructed in the 16th century by Sher Shah Suri, it was originally named Kabuli Darwaza.
The gate has a grim history, infamous for the tragic events that occurred there, including the execution of Mughal princes by British forces in 1857. Made from quartzite stone, the structure stands 15.5 meters high and features three staircases leading to different levels.
Despite its dark past, Khooni Darwaza remains a significant historical site, attracting visitors intrigued by Delhi's rich and turbulent history. Although entry is restricted and the gate is sealed, it continues to be an important symbol of the city's historical narrative.
